I bought my little row home in South Philadelphia this past January, and getting it together is both a hobby and a slog. There are days when I just feel like I’ll never develop a sense of home. I know I need a new roof, but I just get the Wants so badly. I present to you the things I deeply covet:
I hate to admit that I need help with anything, but when it comes to making the most of small spaces, especially as a person with too much stuff, I really do. Apartment Therapy’s Big Book of Small, Cool Spaces has smashing interiors that have motivated me to improve my own small space.
I’ve been collecting Susie Gharemeni goods (www.boygirlparty.com) for a few years now, and I’m still in love with her colorful, breezy animal illustrations. I’ve always had a fridge covered with mementos and these darling magnets dress up the house while working hard and only taking up the most miniscule amount of space.
The $400 KitchenAid mixer has been a staple of cooks and bakers for generations, and I’m no rebel when it comes to that tradition. I would bake the hell out of some cookies with a KitchenAid Artisan Designer Series mixer. I’d play hooky from my awesome job just to hang out with this lady.
Finally, I want a gift that no one but Daddy Warbucks would ever give me (I know you’re out there. Please call, Dad War.) and for which I really don’t even have space. However, the Arco Floor Lamp, a classic of modern design since 1962, is my ultimate dream furnishing.
Since not every dream can be reality, the Crate & Barrel Meryl Floor Lamp is an acceptable substitute:
